Poppy Field

$400.00

Monoprint with embossed geometric print

18x24", 2024

Spring brings banks of golden poppies shoving their way in along the edges of California's roads, and their orange insistence was a reminder to me of a larger system. A swath of them in the verge next to the parking lot on my first day back at Kala Art Institute for my printmaking residency gave me inspiration for weeks of work.

To make a monoprint, I paint with watercolor and gouache directly onto a plate, then put that plate through an etching press with damp paper. The paint transfers to the paper, along with the texture of the lasercut plate.

Available framed in a white wood frame with acid-free float mount and non-glare plexiglass for an additional $150.
